I don't have to slather the reverb on, I can use it more judiciously because it is a two stage process. I have found that the combination works really well. Because I tend to be fairly conservative with how much reverb I add in the cutting room, it sometimes gets eaten up by the music, so I will add a little additional Revibe in stereo or 5.0 mode to it on the stage. For practical fx that need to sit in seamlessly with the dialog I usually build the Altiverb into the fx clips in their native formats, i.e., if it is a mono effect I use a mono Altiverb audiosuite. I leave very little processing of any type to be done on the dub stage. I also use Altiverb mostly as an audiosuite process while I'm cutting, which is how I do almost all processing if I am both editing and mixing a project. Previously I wanted to organise location IR recording during production, but never got to it.The next door IRs are really great, very realistic sounding. Since buying into Exponential surround verbs i use Altiverb mostly for "behind the walls/at the neighbours" effect, mostly as an audiosuite process.
